"Videos de Férias" / "Holiday Videos"
Algumas considerações acerca de Vídeos de Férias:
Regra geral, os chamados "Vídeos de Férias" são uma paixão para quem os faz e uma tortura para quem os vê ... Quantas vezes a sucessão de solavancos, arranques, desfoques e outras barbaridades acabam por contribuir para uma forte dor de cabeça dos pobres espectadores (que, delicadamente, têm de fingir estar a gostar muito ...).
Neste caso concreto procura-se deliberadamente fugir a esse estigma (e os espectadores são voluntários, podem interromper quando quiserem). Estes "vídeos" são mais um conjunto audio-visual de testemunhos que tentam uma aproximação à experiência de "lá ter estado". Para além dos *meus* vídeos e *minhas* imagens, integram outros elementos que ajudam a contextualizar a experiência. É assim normal encontrar até algumas imagens de domínio público (Flickr, Panoramio, Picasa) que complementam o meu testemunho e ajudam o espectador a aproximar-se da experiência "real".
*** Por favor assinalem algum elemento que possa gerar conflito (o qual será desde logo retirado).
No que se refere à qualidade dos vídeos (e das imagens), depende das circunstâncias, da época e do equipamento !! Em regra, os vídeos mais recentes foram captados em formato PAL DV WideScreen, ocupando cerca de 50 MB por cada minuto, naturalmente incomportáveis para upload e download. Para este efeito, os originais foram convertidos para Windows Media Video (wmv, Codec WMV9) com o formato 480x272 @ 25fps (PAL) e 768bps. É um compromisso razoável entre a qualidade e a facilidade de utilização.
Os vídeos mais antigos foram captados em PAL Super 8 analógico, e os muito antigos foram captados em PAL VHS. A pós-produção era também mais elementar e o resultado final é evidentemente menos elaborado.
Para visionar recomenda-se Windows Media Player Classic (leve e eficaz), evitando expandir demasiado a janela para além do tamanho original acima referido.
Como o som faz parte da experiência, aconselha-se sempre um volume razoávelmente elevado.
E, para que resulte o melhor possível, "deixem-se levar" no espírito desta experiência multimédia.

The so-called "Holiday Videos" are, more often than not, a passion to the makers and a torture to the viewers ... The constant succession of shakes, blurs, hiccups and other mishaps will surely guarantee a strong headache to the poor spectators (who must politely act as if they are plainly enjoying).
In this case, I have tried to escape that fate (and anyway, the spectators are free to leave whenever they wish). These "videos" are more likely a set of audiovisual witnesses, trying to convey the experience of "having been there". Besides *my* moving and fixed images, they integrate other elements that try to put that experience in context. Thus, some public domain elements may be used (Flickr, Panoramio, Picasa) to enhance my own testimony and help the spectator feeling the "real" experience.

Concerning video and image quality, that depends of the circumstances, year and equipment !! Usually, the latest videos were shot in PAL DV WideScreen, sizing to 50 MB per minute, obviously too much for uploading and downloading. And, to achieve the best result, "let yourself go" with the spirit of this multimedia experience.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD FILES FROM RAPIDSHARE:
- Copy the link of a rapidshare file
(for example http://rapidshare.com/files/224999037/MM_Productions_2006.avi ),
paste it in your web browser and hit Enter.
Alternatively, you may have an active link to click, like this one. - On the webpage that opens, click on the "Free" button.
- Then a new page will open which will have a countdown ticker. Wait until it disappears.
- Sometimes you will then see a box in which you will have to enter the characters shown in the Character Recognition Image.
- Finally, a "Download" button will appear. Click on it.
- Choose option "Save", don't choose "Open".
- "Save As" where you want.
HOW TO USE FRACTIONED FILES ("exe" and "rar" files):
Some files which are quite big are fragmented in several parts. For example, ABC.part1.exe + ABC.part2.rar + ABC.part3.rar
- Get all the parts in the same location and double-click the one with extension "exe".
- A dialog will open where you can specify the destination folder (default is same location).
- Click on "Install".
